What is Reactive Walking?
Reactive walking is a healthy workout for the whole body. It is a modern form of Nordic walking. The word “reactive” means that the body reacts immediately to
movement impulses. The muscles tense automatically and provide stability and safety.
Lightweight tubes are used in reactive walking. The tubes contain special granules. The natural arm swing causes the granules to move back and forth. This creates
noticeable and audible impulses. These impulses must be absorbed by muscle power. This trains the muscles without putting too much strain on the joints.
The tubes can be filled to different levels. This makes the training suitable for beginners and advanced users. The arms remain slightly bent while walking. When
swinging forward, the tube points upwards. When swinging back, it remains horizontal at about hip height. The sound of the granules is important. It should sound like a slight rattling. If you
don't hear any noise, you should concentrate more on the movement.
Reactive walking strengthens the back, abdomen, shoulders, and arms. It improves coordination and can relieve tension. As endurance training, it supports the heart
and circulation. It helps prevent back problems and improves overall fitness.
